A connoisseur’s spirit and a true contemporary trend: whisky is the undisputed star of the most refined after-dinner drinks. At Mio Lab, the cocktail bar at Park Hyatt Milan, Bar & Lobby Manager Alessandro Iacobucci Vitoni makes it the starting point for a double tasting celebrating Scotland and Japan in an experience that unites culture, flavor, and creativity.

True to its identity as a laboratory of ideas, Mio Lab interprets whisky as a universal language, capable of expressing distant worlds through aromas, textures, and rituals. Two journeys, two visions, two souls of whisky: the wilder one of the Scottish coasts and the pure and meditative one of Japan.

From the heart of the Isle of Islay comes Laphroaig, one of the most beloved names among peaty whisky enthusiasts. Notes of smoke, saltiness, and burnt wood reveal the rugged character of a land that has refined the art of distillation for centuries.
My Lab offers a selection of three 6cl glasses served on wooden bases.

- Laphroaig Quarter Cask – intense and spicy, with aromatic depth;
- Laphroaig The Cask Lore – a rare and complex blend, created by the distillery’s masters as a tribute to tradition. Lore in Gaelic means passage, also understood as the passing on of knowledge from generation to generation.
- Laphroaig 10 YO Sherry Oak Finish – where peat meets the velvety sweetness of sherry casks.
Guests can also choose the Scotland Wave cocktail (€28): an elegant composition of Laphroaig Quarter Cask, lemon, sugar syrup, blackberries, licorice bitters, absinthe spray, and a licorice and salt crust. A wave that unites Scotland and the Mediterranean, between power and grace.

If Scotland represents the origin, Japan is its spiritual evolution. Suntory is a pioneer of Japanese whisky, with its spirits of extraordinary finesse, capable of evoking the calm and purity of Japanese nature.

My Lab’s tasting offers three expressions:
- Suntory Yamazaki 12YO – smooth and fruity, a symbol of Japan’s first single malt whisky;
- Suntory Hakushu 12YO – fresh and herbaceous, distilled in the forests of Mount Kaikomagatake;
- Suntory Hibiki Harmony – a balanced blend, synonymous with elegance and perfection.

- Three 6cl serving glasses, accompanied by the Sakura Serenade cocktail, a poetic tribute composed of Hibiki Harmony, Cocchi Storico, and Fernet Branca, with orange peel aroma.
- The chocolate selected by pastry chef Alessio Gallelli enhances the different nuances of each whisky, transforming the tasting into a complete experience.
- Mio Lab confirms its vocation as a visionary bar: a place that anticipates trends, enhances after-dinner drinks as a moment of discovery, and makes whisky a stylish experience, designed for an attentive, curious, and cosmopolitan audience seeking excellence in the glass.
