Timeless racing and the move to sustainable fuel

In a landmark moment, the 2024 Goodwood Revival became the world’s first historic motorsport event to run its entire race schedule solely on sustainable fuel. As announced in November 2023, all competitors were required to use a fuel which has a minimum of 70% advanced sustainable components.

Goodwood is proud to have led the way in the adoption of sustainable fuels for historic motor racing, having hosted the Fordwater Trophy at the 2023 Revival and the Ken Miles Cup and Gordon Spice Trophy at the 81st Members’ Meeting earlier this year.

Racing highlights across the weekend included head-to-head battles on two wheels – with some fairly unpredictable weather in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy with Michael Russell and Michael Rutter, taking the win on a Norton Velocette MSS.

Meanwhile, the pairing of IndyCar legend Dario Franchitti and all-time NASCAR great Jimmie Johnson took first place in one of the weekend’s most prestigious races, the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DB4GT, while BTCC title contenders Jake Hill and Tom Ingram duked it out for the RAC TT Celebration.

Celebrating the truly extraordinary career of John Surtees – and marking 60 years since his Formula 1 World Championship – the Goodwood Revival brought together cars and bikes from the many disciplines he competed in. The tribute to Surtees celebrated his extraordinarily successful motor racing career – which included seven motorcycle World Championships between 1956 and 1960, the 1964 Formula 1 World Championship, and the 1966 Can-Am Championship. The parade featured everything from 250cc, 350cc and 500cc motorcycles to Grand Prix winners, unlimited sports cars and GTs.

Marking 80 years since the Normandy landings, over 100 military vehicles – that were instrumental during D-Day – were on display across the weekend with a poignant parade on Sunday.
