    The Return of Roberto Okabe

Chef Roberto Okabe returns to the protagonist of the Milanese gastronomic scene with the View Live Restaurant, an innovative venue that blends his creative cuisine with a convivial atmosphere and entertainment in a sophisticated and unique environment.

With this new project, the Japanese-Brazilian chef returns to via San Gerolamo Emiliani (Corso Lodi), inside the same elegant building where, in the early 2000s, he launched his then unprecedented and revolutionary fusion style.

To characterize the gastronomic offer of View Live Restaurant, the melting pot generated by the meeting and dialogue between the creativity of Roberto Okabe (and his team) and the style of Simone Conca – who is also entrusted with the management of the restaurant – in an intriguing fusion of flavors between East and West, between experimentation and tradition.

The beating heart of the venue is the important Chef’s Table “overlooking” the open kitchen, where the chefs interact with the diners in the live preparation of the dishes and dishes, in an engaging dinner show.

Hidden behind a metal curtain with an eye-catching “I see – I don’t see” effect, the Chef’s Table can accommodate up to twelve guests, who have the privilege of being able to enjoy a truly immersive sensorial experience. This is also possible thanks to the special lighting designed specifically for the counter on which, in fact, two spectacular chandeliers made to measure and made up of brass rods of different sizes dominate which spread a limited light aimed at emphasizing the composition of dishes and drinks.

A solution that allows guests to better appreciate the individual details that make up the small masterpieces of taste and aesthetics studied by Chef Roberto Okabe and made exclusively with excellent raw materials, enhanced through preparations and techniques aimed at maximum simplicity.

The menu on the menu is a mix of different suggestions and cultures, which is expressed, for example, in the encounter between elements such as Patanegra and wasabi, yuzu and bechamel, but also with innovative reinterpretations of some must-haves of oriental cuisine such as sashimi and gyoza, rolls, urumaki and gunkan.

A journey to discover the dishes that best express the style of the View Live Restaurant can begin with “Once upon a time there was Finger Food”, an appetizer made up of four spoonful tastings through which the Chef introduces flavors and textures that will then be articulated on paper plates; continue with “Magnolia”, a carpaccio of flamed salmon with pineapple mojito sauce, mint and shiso, grated daikon, ponzu sauce and sesame, and again with “Leo, Gratin & Vinci”, uramaki composed of a salmon tartare, tempura of asparagus and crab gratin with flying fish roe, and conclude with the Black Cod creamed with potatoes, chives and parsley, served on ground of Taggiasca olives and caramelized onions.

In desserts, the scent of green tea and macha, the spicy note of ginger, but also the Mediterranean delicacy of pistachio are protagonists in cheesecake, mochi and ice cream, but also in a special version of tiramisu, always balanced between East and West .

A dualism that also returns in the interior design of the venue, designed to infuse the different environments with a refined atmosphere.

Contributing to conveying this sensation are expertly modulated lighting, which creates a pleasant play of light and shadow, and the choice of extremely fine materials for the furnishings, such as brass or Canaletto walnut wood, deliberately worked in a simple way. to obtain an effect of perfect imperfection.

The use of anthracite-painted exposed bricks, vases made from exotic tree roots or industrial elements such as foundry crucibles, as well as the live presence of banana trees and sterlizie, give the spaces a decidedly contemporary mood with an elegant hint of exoticism .

Once through the entrance, guests are welcomed by the spectacular View Cocktail Bar, framed by two large symmetrical columns within which a floating bottle stands on a full-wall mirror, where the V for View stands out . An evocative play of mirrors amplifies the visual experience, enhancing the large selection of liqueurs and spirits.

Behind the counter, leading a close-knit and prepared team, bartender Alessandro Lisco offers an extremely evocative cocktail list inspired by his adventures in Japan.

Thus, among the Signature cocktails it is possible to find the Negriaki where the best sake meets Campari Bitter and Vermouth, or Caipisakè maracuja, a combination of Japanese tradition and Brazilian atmospheres.

Each taste is a sensorial experience, a real journey made even more engaging by the story of the situations and moments that the cocktail wants to evoke. The list is completed, in addition to the great classics, by a selection of Mocktails and Tiki Cocktails.

For a pre or after dinner drink, the View Cocktail Bar also offers a wide selection of wines and sake, to be sipped with the background of DJ sets and live musical performances which, on Friday and Saturday evenings, accompany customers in the Milanese night, with the opening of the venue extended until late at night.

Artisanal brass suspensions with different shapes and sizes, mounted at irregular heights and distances almost to recall the flight of birds. The floating composition is emphasized by the contrast with the anthracite black walls and ceiling, by the cuts of light, and by the reflection on the large mirror that characterizes the room, multiplying the scenographic impact of the sculpture and amplifying its spaces.

Those who want to live a more intimate and private experience can sit in the elegant private room, a jewel of discretion located in the raised part of the room and complete with independent access which guarantees maximum privacy and exclusivity. The room is characterized by an articulated boiserie, enhanced by elegant wall lamps that diffuse a soft light and contribute to defining a warm and enveloping environment, completed by a large fireplace in the center of the main wall, and by the recovery of a precious “chevron” floor original which integrates well with the teal color of the boiserie.

Finally, the dehors is the ideal situation for those who love to dine outdoors in the summer.

Bespoke magazine was there, to greet and celebrate Robert Okabe and this creature.

Has been a nice dinner ,a place where to eat, drink, talk, listen music, to be contaminated by flashes of fusion in a a dark autumnal Milanese evening.

See you soon again, glad to to see the outside from your point of view!
