To be released next March in a limited edition: 3,000 bottles and some large formats, with selected grapes from two crus, Ribaldoni (Tenuta Villa Rosa) for Sangiovese and Poggio La Mozza (Tenuta Val delle Rose) for Merlot.
Coevo, the iconic Cecchi Family wine, celebrates a new chapter with the 2021 vintage. This special edition, produced in about 3,000 bottles, including 300 magnums, represents a contemporary expression of the winemaking experience in Tuscany, a journey begun by Luigi Cecchi in 1893 with the founding of the winery in Castellina in Chianti. Eighteen years after its debut, Coevo evolves its blend while respecting its original identity, maintaining its ties with two of the Cecchi Family’s most significant areas: Chianti Classico and Maremma.

Coevo was born in 2006 as a tribute to Luigi Cecchi, the third generation and a central figure in the winery’s expansion, and initially blended several varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, to express the richness of Tuscan terroirs. With the 2021 vintage, Coevo’s vision evolves toward a more precise synthesis: a blend of Sangiovese grapes from the Villa Rosa estate in Castellina in Chianti, and Merlot from the Val delle Rose estate in Maremma.
“This is a wine that marked, so to speak, my ‘oenological turning point,'” says Andrea Cecchi, – giving me the cue to approach the vineyard and the wine with renewed dedication and with the precise intention of interpreting each vintage to its fullest expressiveness. It is therefore also thanks to Coevo that I clearly understood the path to take with our winery.”
Coevo is not just any wine: born with the intention of expressing the genius loci of these territories, it represents the dialogue between the two production areas of excellence. The result is a balance capable of giving finesse, breadth and intensity to the wine, originating from two prestigious and emblematic cru for Famiglia Cecchi

Coevo presents itself as a fusion of unique characteristics: ancient and complex soils those of Chianti Classico, where the Sangiovese grapes come from, which connect with that delicate microclimate of the Maremma area, strongly influenced by the sea, where the Merlot grapes are born.

The idea is to create a wine that speaks to our time, but is also capable of telling stories beyond the present, projecting into new oenological perspectives.” – explains Miria Bracali, Chief Winemaker and Director of Production at Famiglia Cecchi.

The name itself, Coevo, evokes the idea of contemporaneity and connection between different times: it is a wine that holds the soul of the past but also has the potential to evolve into the future, passing on the history of the winery and its Tuscan roots.
