“Our lamps are still handcrafted, in beautiful workspaces. They’re all made in Italy, in Serio. There’s no rush; each lamp is given the time it takes to make a well-made lamp.”
Enzo Catellani

The value of Catellani & Smith’s craftsmanship is revealed in the design of their lamps and the countless forms they shape light. It’s an ancient reminder, an invitation to rediscover the charm and authenticity in the (im)perfection of the human gesture that creates uniqueness and an intimate connection with the material.

Each lamp is crafted in the workshop along the Serio River (Bergamo), using artisanal craftsmanship that is the cornerstone around which the company’s values and identity are developed.

This is where intuition transforms into experimentation: materials, components, and shapes become instruments in an orchestra guided by technological innovation, creating a virtuous business model that supports the quality and beauty of handmade objects, made over time.

Catellani & Smith dedicates the necessary patience and time to each piece, without compromise or shortcuts. All this translates into unique lamps, where no two are identical. Slight irregularities are a declaration of authenticity, tangible evidence of complex manual work and artisan experience.

Skilled hands shape light: with precise gestures, they shape the spheroidal brass structure of the new Pòta! series, neatly distributing within it an innovative, handcrafted lighting fixture combining glass and brass with modern LED filament technology.

They meticulously apply the precious gold leaf, one of Catellani & Smith’s most recognizable signatures, decorating the surfaces of numerous models, such as Lederam, Macchina della Luce, Luna Piena, and Bellatrix. With the same dedication, they hand-paint the thin circles of Sorry Giotto and some models from the PostKrisi series.

At every stage of manufacturing, the common thread is attention: a meticulous approach that accompanies every moment of the lamp’s construction, right up to its final packaging, where the Catellani & Smith stamp is applied.

In a world where everything seems standardized and standardized, the value of craftsmanship leads to a more original dimension. Every handcrafted object has a story to tell, a soul that manifests itself through the (im)perfections that give it voice.
